Can I transfer my world and character to the server?

Yes, and they move separately. Upload the matching .fwl and .db pair into worlds_local through the panel file manager or SFTP, then set that world name in the startup parameters. Characters are saved locally by the game, so each player simply selects the same Viking and joins your server address. Nothing is lost in the move.

Do my players need the same mods as the server?

For most BepInEx plugins, yes. Anything that changes recipes, build pieces or game rules has to be installed on both sides or clients will desync. A few purely server-side plugins work alone. Share your exact plugin versions with players, and use the version changer to keep the server binary on a build your mods still support.

Does Valheim hosting support crossplay?

It does. Valheim's crossplay lets PC and Xbox players share a world once the option is enabled in your server launch settings, and players join with the code rather than an IP. Crossplay and modded servers do not mix well, so pick one approach: a vanilla crossplay world, or a BepInEx world for PC players.

How many players can play on one Valheim server?

The dedicated server handles ten connected Vikings, which is the game's own limit rather than ours; we never meter slots. Ten players building in the same area is demanding, so we suggest 6 GB or 8 GB for a full house. The panel player list shows who is online and lets you manage admins and bans.

Moving An Existing Valheim World

Your local world is two files that share a name: a .fwl and a .db. Upload both into the server's worlds_local directory over SFTP, set the world name in the start parameters, and your base, portal network and boss trophies carry across. Valheim stores characters on the client, so every player keeps their skills and inventory the instant they connect to the new address.

If a save ever looks wrong after a patch, the panel holds ten rolling daily backups and Valheim's own .db.old file stays visible in the file manager for a manual rollback. Download a copy over SFTP before any risky terraforming session and you always have a clean point to return to.

Installing BepInEx And Valheim Plus

Valheim modding runs through BepInEx. Upload the Unix pack to the server root, place plugin DLLs such as Valheim Plus or a server-side quality of life mod into BepInEx/plugins, then restart from the live console so the configs generate under BepInEx/config. Most plugins expect matching versions on the client, so keep your list documented and pinned for players.
