PRICING
A three or four player island is comfortable on 6 GB at $15.00; a full eight-player server with sprawling late-game bases is steadier on 8 GB or 12 GB.
Sons of the Forest spends CPU on cannibal AI groups and memory on the structures you keep adding, so plans bring DDR5 ECC, NVMe saves and 3 to 5 Ryzen 9 cores.
Island Up Instantly
The dedicated server is provisioned automatically, so you can be dropping the first tarp shelter minutes after paying rather than waiting on approval.
Instant setup · No approval wait
Base-Building Headroom
Log walls, defensive spikes and structure counts add up fast, and Ryzen 9 cores with DDR5 ECC memory keep the world responsive when they do.
Ryzen 9 · DDR5 ECC · NVMe SSD
Save Slot Control
Browse, download or replace the server's save slots in the file manager, and roll back to any of ten daily backups if a session goes badly.

Only Cannibals Interrupt
DDoS filtering comes with every server at no extra cost, so the things attacking your camp are strictly the ones the game spawned.

ABOUT SONS OF THE FOREST HOSTING
Always-On Co-Op On The Island
Hosting Sons of the Forest from inside the game means the world only exists while one specific person is playing, and their upload speed sets everyone's experience. A dedicated server removes both problems: the island keeps its own save, players join whenever they like, and progress on the base or the bunker route is never gated behind one schedule.
Provisioning is automated after checkout and the panel handles the rest, including a live console, a task scheduler for restarts and network tools for your assigned ports. Ten unmetered allocations come as standard, which is more than the game needs.
Save Slots, Backups And Resets
The dedicated server keeps its worlds in numbered save slots, and having file-level access to them is the practical difference between a rented box and a real server. Download a slot before a risky cave run, upload a slot you want to continue, or delete one to start a fresh island with different settings. Everything sits on unmetered NVMe storage.
Automatic daily backups cover the whole instance with ten rolling slots, so a bad night with a creepy mutant crowd does not cost you a month of building. Restores take a couple of clicks in the panel and a restart from the console.
Editing dedicatedserver.cfg Settings
Server behavior is controlled by the configuration file rather than a menu: server name and password, maximum players, the save slot to load, and the game mode, whether that is normal, hard, hard survival, peaceful or a custom sandbox setup. Open it in the panel file manager, change the values, restart from the live console, and the next session loads with your chosen rules.

Common questions about running a Sons of the Forest server with us.
Start at 6 GB for $15.00 a month, which covers three or four survivors and a reasonable base. Memory use climbs with structures, stored resources and explored terrain, so a full eight-player island late in a playthrough is more comfortable on 8 GB at $20.00. RAM is a flat $2.50 per gigabyte if you need to step up.
Eight players can share a world, which is the game's own co-op limit rather than a restriction we add; our plans never meter slots. You set the maximum in the server configuration file and can add a password there too, which is the simplest way to keep an eight-slot island private to your group.
Yes. Sons of the Forest keeps saves as folders on disk, so you can upload a single-player or previously hosted world into the server's save directory over SFTP, set that slot in the configuration file and restart. Keep a copy of the original locally, and take a backup slot in the panel before overwriting anything on the server.
The game has no official server-side modding API, so there is no mod folder to populate the way there is in Valheim or Rust. What you do control is substantial: game mode, difficulty, custom sandbox values, save slots and player limits through the configuration file, with full SFTP and file manager access if community tooling appears later.
Yes. Stop the server, edit the game mode and any custom settings in the configuration file through the panel, then start it again and the existing save slot continues under the new rules. Because a mistake here affects an active world, take a manual backup first; you keep ten rolling daily slots either way.
