ABOUT RIMWORLD TOGETHER HOSTING
How RimWorld Together Works
RimWorld has no official multiplayer. RimWorld Together is a community mod that runs a separate server and lets players keep their own colonies while trading, visiting and sending caravans to each other through it. Because participation depends on that server being reachable, hosting it somewhere always-on is far more practical than taking turns running it from a desktop machine.
Matching Mods Across Players
The single most common source of connection trouble is mismatched mod setups. Everyone should run the same RimWorld Together release, alongside the same supporting mod list and load order, and the server build has to match too. The panel makes that maintainable: upload server files through the file manager or SFTP, read startup output in the live console, and use automatic daily backups with 10 rolling slots so a bad update is a rollback rather than a lost group.
Keeping Linked Colonies Safe
Server-side data holds the shared state your group has built up, so treat it like any other long-lived save. Take a manual backup before installing a new mod release, keep the task scheduler set for a nightly restart, and pull an occasional copy down over SFTP for an offline archive. Our published SLA at /legal/sla targets 99.9% monthly uptime, and support is available 24/7 through the client portal, Discord or email.

Common questions about running a RimWorld Together server with us.
No. RimWorld ships as a single-player colony sim, and multiplayer comes from community projects such as RimWorld Together. We host the server side on enterprise hardware with full file access, but the mod itself is maintained by its community, so consult its documentation for supported features and current setup steps.
The server component is light compared with the RimWorld client, which runs on each player's own machine. Most groups are fine on 2 GB at $5.00 a month, and 3 GB covers a larger roster with more stored colony data. Memory is a flat $2.50 per gigabyte if you want more headroom later.
In practice yes. Everyone should run the same RimWorld Together version plus a matching supporting mod list and load order, and the server build must line up with the clients. Agree on a list before you start, then coordinate updates as a group so nobody is locked out after a release lands mid-week.
RimWorld Together is built around each player running their own colony, so bringing an established save into a group is usually possible, but behavior depends on the mod version and on your mod list matching everyone else's. Read the mod's current notes first, and keep a local copy of the save before converting anything.
Create a manual backup, stop the server from the live console, replace the server files through the file manager or SFTP, then start it again and read the console output for load errors. With 10 rolling backup slots you always have a recent restore point, so a release that misbehaves costs minutes rather than the group's progress.
