ABOUT BAROTRAUMA HOSTING
Persistent Europa Campaigns
Campaign mode is the reason most crews move to a dedicated server. Money, submarine upgrades, hired characters, talent progression, and your position on the Europa map all persist on the server's storage, so the run continues at the next agreed time rather than resetting because whoever hosted last week is unavailable tonight. Automatic daily backups keep ten rolling slots if a save goes sideways between missions.
Submarines And Mod Lists
Custom submarine files go into the submarines folder and show up in the server's selection list for voting or admin choice, and Workshop content packages go into the mod directory and get enabled in the configuration. Load order is the thing to watch: mismatched or differently ordered mod lists between server and clients are the usual cause of join failures, so publish your exact list to the crew.
Server Settings And Crew Control
The server settings file holds respawn timers and shuttle behavior, traitor frequency, friendly fire, karma, and voting rules, and the panel file manager opens it in the browser for edits before a restart from the live console. Player management tools cover bans and kicks during a rough session, while the task scheduler can automate a nightly restart so a long campaign does not drift on memory.

Common questions about running a Barotrauma server with us.
2 GB at $5.00 per month is enough for a six-person vanilla campaign. Step up to 6 GB when a 16-player crew and a mod list are involved, and 8 GB with four cores when you are running large custom submarines for a public server. Player slots are unlimited on every tier regardless.
Yes. The server keeps the campaign file on disk, including submarine upgrades, crew wallets, hired characters, and map progress, so the next dive resumes where you stopped instead of starting a fresh Europa. Automatic daily backups keep ten rolling slots in case a save breaks partway through a mission.
Place Workshop content packages into the server's mod folder with the file manager or SFTP and enable them in the configuration so connecting clients are prompted to match. Keep the enabled order identical to what your crew subscribes to, because mismatched load orders are the most common reason a player cannot join.
Upload the submarine file into the submarines folder and it appears in the server's list for voting or admin selection. Campaign servers additionally need a submarine that is valid for campaign play. Unmetered NVMe storage means you can keep an entire fleet of community subs available without watching a disk quota.
The server settings file holds respawn timers, shuttle behavior, traitor frequency, friendly fire, karma, and voting rules, and the panel file manager opens it for editing in the browser. Restart from the live console to apply. The task scheduler can automate nightly restarts so long campaigns stay steady.
