Why Are Intel Processors So Good?

Shopping for a computer can be a real challenge for someone who is not familiar with all of the technology involved especially when trying to decide which is the best laptop. A lot of terms get thrown around in a computer store and many people just blindly purchase whatever the salesman says is best. Most [...]

Discount Web Hosting Is The Smart Play

If you hang around enough webmaster forums and start asking questions about web hosting your probably going to get lots of advice. One such piece of advice would follow along the lines of you get what you pay for, and there’s no way that discount web hosting will ever meet your needs. It will be unreliable, it will be slow, and they’ll never answer your support questions. Well, that’s just a truck load of nonsense. I use some 40 plus web hosting companies in my line of business, and I can say that 90 percent of the time they all do the job just fine. Mind you, I know exactly what I’m looking for, and I know what the going rates are for me requirements, so I have a pretty good chance of getting decent hosting. Inmotion hosting reviews may help you out in this category if your looking.

Web hosting has become such a commodity item these days, that there’s really no reason to pay an arm and a leg for it anymore. One rule of thumb I highly recommend you follow though, is to keep fresh backups of your site every day. That way, if things do go south with your web hosting company, then it’s no big deal to be back up and running quickly. On any of my my sites, I can be backup and running on a new server anywhere in the world in about 20 minutes. Web hosting is an imperfect business, and you need to be prepared for the worst.

Spy vs. Spyware

Nowadays with all the things floating around the internet, viruses are the least of your worries.  Spyware is actually recording what you type and what you look at and sending it to a third party.  Usually it is just for advertising purposes, but sometimes it is for something much more sinister.  Getting rid of it [...]

Reimage Review – Using Software To Fix Windows When The Registry Becomes Corrupted

When a registry file becomes corrupted there are a number of steps you can take to repair it. If the issue causes a blue screen exception, affecting how the system boots, then the following sequence of actions could help resolve the issue. As a last resort, a Reimage review is included to highlight software options for repairs.

I recently experienced a blue screen error with the message – critical service failed. From research, this means that an application (running as a service) failed to initialize correctly due to its registry configuration being corrupted (missing/erroneous key entries).

Hosting Websites Is Not All Fun And Games

After spending all day deal with the intricacies of hosting websites, I need to have a few diversions in my life. If all we thought about or did, was work after all, then what fun would that be? I do enjoy getting out and playing a bit of sports in my down time. Squash is my game of choice these days, and it’s a great one to play. Unfortunately, it’s physically a very high impact game, and can be hard on the muscles and joints. You will need to spend time with a few online massage schools grads to help in the healing afterwards. Getting older makes it a bit harder to play the game, and the top massage schools online know what it takes to get you back in shape for your next game.

Black And White With A Shade Of Grey

Ethics are a funny thing when it comes to the internet these days. Specifically, I’m talking about a sub section of the internet known as SEO. SEO stands for search engine optimisation, which means, essentially building a website that is optimized for search engines such as Google, Yahoo, and Bing. There are a whole host of other smaller search engines, but those three make up the major bulk of the market.

When it comes to promoting your site with search engines in mind, there are primarily two things you have to be concerned with. Those two things, are the content of your website, and the number of links point to your site from other sites around the internet. Now, that seems simple, but as the old expression goes “the devil is in the details”. How you create content for your site, and how you get other sites to link to your website can be accomplished in a myriad of ways.

While the official line of most search engines, is that you shouldn’t even think about building a site with a search engines needs in mind, most every successful site does it. But, suffice it to say, there are some techniques that are generally considered more acceptable than others. Those who follow the acceptable practices are generally considered “White Hats”, those the less acceptable practices are commonly called “Black Hats”. While it’s somewhat less dramatic, it’s been my experience, that most webmasters fall somewhere in the middle. “Grey Hats” if you will. Datadial Hammersmith can help explain the differences.

These days, it seems like there is just so much software floating around, that you have to wonder if it’s worth spending the money to have custom software developed for your business or personal use.  Well, being one of the many people who comprise the population known as custom developers, I must say that it [...]

What To Look For In Desktop Security Software

The need to secure your computer is more pronounced than ever before. The number of malicious files, websites, and programs are increasing every day. What complicates matters even more is that there are unscrupulous people who create viruses, malware, and spyware just so that they can use them to market their own security software. Others [...]
